I’m not normally one to completely give in to old superstitions, but when it comes to weather and wedding days, you can never be too cautious!
Janita and Jac had a lovely intimate outdoor ceremony planned at a friend’s property on Spring Lake, Alberta, and had been keeping their fingers crossed for a warm, dry day.
Lo and behold, the morning of their wedding, it was raining cats and dogs like we hadn’t seen all year. Things looked positively soggy. Luckily, Janita had this little trick up her sleeve:

Yup… That’s a broom in a tree. Not sure where the superstition originated, but we were willing to try anything!
While hoping for the rain to stop, we all piled into the house and wished for the best!
In the meantime, Hamish wasn’t sure what he thought of all this “wedding” stuff!

Janita has an incredible sense of style… along with rubber cowboy boots to account for the rain, she had two other amazing shoe options:

Everyone hopped on the bus from Janita & Jac’s and to our delight, the rain slowed as we approached the destination. As everyone mingled prior to the ceremony, the rain stopped completely – and then, as if on cue, Janita stepped onto the meadow with her mom and dad, and the sun poked it’s head out from behind the clouds and shone down for the entire ceremony!

Every little detail had such meaning and it was a joy to see the emotion shared when the personal touches were realized. Janita arranged a corsage for her mom with sprigs of stefanotis, the flowers which were in her mom’s bouquet on her wedding day to Janita’s dad!

Jac is an audiophile to the max. His corsage was just perfect!

The ceremony at the lake was beautiful, surrounded by friends and family with a candle lit in honour of those who were unable to attend.

As Jac kissed Janita, their guests blew bubbles and rang bells – it was one of the happiest celebrations of love I’ve ever had the privilege of witnessing.

Sneaking a peek as Janita and Jac share a moment in the meadow.

Thank you two for inviting me to capture the memories of your amazing day. The love you share is absolutely tangible, and was felt by all in attendance. I feel incredibly blessed to have been able to witness it first hand.
Much love,
Hailey
