While visiting Danaye in Calgary, I had the pleasure of spending some time in the Virgin Radio studio during Adam, Danaye & Fuzzy’s show.
These three are so natural on-air. It’s nice to be able to see people who are doing what they were born to do and love every minute of it.
Suddenly, Adrian Grenier walked into the control room. He was in town promoting his new documentary “Teenage Paparazzo”. He was super nice & down to earth, even with guys at the station chasing him down for photos and autographs. It was really funny to see men geek out over this “Entourage” star.
Then Adrian hacked Danaye’s facebook account and changed her status.
It read “My boyfriend and I are finished. Adrian Grenier is in the saddle”. Ha! That got lots of attention.
Check out the Teenage Paparazzo trailer below. It looks very interesting!
After 8 days of continuous rain and lack of vitamin D in Edmonton, it was time to head south and clear the fog from my head. One of my best friends, Danaye, recently relocated to Calgary (yay!) after living in Victoria (too far away!) for a year, and I’ve been really looking forward to spending some time with her again.
After shopping and gabbing all day Wednesday, I got to tag along as Danaye hit up some work events at The Calgary Stampede Thursday night.
Danaye is now one of the morning show co-hosts at 98.5 Virgin Radio in Calgary. Her two co-hosts (above) Adam and Fuzzy, are great guys! The three of them together are awesome – they’re all totally genuine and devoid of ego – just all around great people.
The evening started off with a Bench/Scotch & Soda and Town Shoes fashion show featuring Sophia Models. These three did a fantastic job hosting.
After the show was over, it was the Virgin Morning Show’s turn to strike a pose.
Then it was time for “Fuzzy vs 12 year olds”, a chance to see who could win the water-squirting game on the Calgary Stampede midway.
Danaye cheered Fuzzy on:
It got tense at moments:
Ultimately at the end of it all, everyone was a winner.
I’ve often been asked what I get up to when not out and about photographing weddings and other such joyous occasions.
This calls for a new segment. “Behind the Scenes with Hailey” is where I’ll be highlighting the fun, wacky and often strange things that happen in my world.
Where shall I begin? Let’s start with the bloodiest.
For the past year in spare time, I’ve been working as a producer with Wimpy Boy Productions on parts 2 & 3 of the Nightmare Island Trilogy.
My talented boyfriend Galen W.E. Pendleton’s first film, “Nightmare Island: The Legend of Hookface”, is a campy teen slasher comedy that was shot over a weekend in the summer of 2008 with a group of friends, and became somewhat of a cult hit amongst the art & horror loving community in Edmonton. You can see the trailer below.
Fans of the first film kept asking if and when there would be a follow up, so when a horror fan offered Galen funding in 2010 to make a sequel, production began on parts 2 & 3.
Together with an incredible and talented team of individuals and under the direction of Galen, I helped out during pre-production and filming of “Nightmare Island 2: Hookface’s Revenge”, and in the past several months, have organized the promotion and marketing the film.
